Veil and Dagger Studio is the creative studio of me, Trevor Bittinger.

I’ve spent the majority of my career deep in the trenches of the advertising world, immersed in all things Adobe Creative Suite, making images for brands. Specifically as a Creative Photo Retoucher. On the weekends and in any free time, especially while living in NYC, I would make music videos and animations with friends, and we had a ton of fun being creative, making something we thought was cool or different or just weird.

For a long time I struggled with what type of website to showcase work. Should it be strictly commercial retouching work? Should I have separate websites to show different types of work? Ultimately, I’ve chosen to just show my work as an artist, digital and traditional, music, personal, whatever… and you can peruse the work as you see fit. It feels more authentic that way, and tells more of a story I think. So come back often, and sign up for my newsletter if you’d like to see what else is new here. I’ll try to make it interesting and worth a 2 min read.

Throughout my career, I’ve been referred to as the ‘retoucher who is also an art director and craftsperson, a maker’, because of my artistic background and the ability to not just conceptualize, but to actually ‘make’ the thing as well. I love getting my hands dirty and building things, and I also love creating things that end up being pixels as the final product.

Bands,  Brands…

I started playing drums in the 6th grade, and still play them to this day. Although my dreams of being a rock star on the stage have long since faded, I feel that experience of playing in bands/managing bands, creating album art and music videos,  helped immensely with  grassroots marketing, brand design, team management, and a sense of timing - especially helpful in animation.

Film grain, wood grain…

I come from a long line of basement and garages that smell like sawdust. My father is a carpenter, builder, maker, craftsperson. My grandfather was a carpenter… it’s in my blood. When I’m not manipulating pixels, I enjoy making art/sculpture with found objects, wood, metal. One of these days I’ll post some pieces here.

I also started a line of soap, candles, and beard oil with my wife back in 2014. All that stuff is here if you like stuff that smells good.

I have over 20 years experience as a Photo Retoucher/Digital Artist and am always up for talking about a new creative project. If you’ve read this far, thanks!
